                       Definitely the most important native
friulian wine. Thirty years ago it was considered
                        virtually extinct.
In 1973 we planted our first new
Pignolo vineyard, with scions obtained from the last
twelve a hundred-year-old vines still surviving in
Rosazzo and three years later, when we picked the
first bunches, we at once realized the reason of its
disappearance: the low yeld of the vines.
Pignolo is very late harvested and
aged over two years in 100% new french oak barrels. It
does need years to mellow out its incredible wealth of
tannins, but it rewards patience by evolving into a
                        distinctly superior wine.
                      Meditation wine, good pairing with
                        cheese, red meat and game.
